so I got it to work. I would search for available networks, which would time out, and not be connected when it did. But, I noticed while it was searching that UMA appeared on the upper right, so I searched again, at when it was about 62% done I cancelled,
I spend most of my time within Wi-Fi coverage of my BESx so I couldn't BBM or PIN, or do much of anything during drive time, but that is bad anyway. I can understand why many people are up set, but not a big deal personally.

What did you do to the device just before this happened? OS update? Installed apps? Installed new themes?
I believe there are 4 different possible screens on the 9700. The only way to know which you have is to take it apart and look at the part number on the back of the screen.
